Here is a video about it. I suggest you just try the drill -- pocket the ball in the side and roll gently on the selected target ball -- before you watch the whole video. See how much you already know or can figure out on your own.

If the balls are actually frozen on the cushion, it is a bad drill for a beginning player. Put them a ball or half a ball off the cushion. That will be more like shots you will see in games.
I have been practicing this drill now with your suggestion, not freezing the balls against the cushion, but giving me a half ball distance from the cushion with each ball. Now I can make the drill on a more regular basis. In reality, having all the balls frozen on the rail is really an advanced setup, and very impractical for real game situations. Occasionally you get one ball in a run frozen on the rail, but not all of them. I took your advice, it made a big difference thank you!
