Hippie Dave is in Waco,Tx. He played in the 9Ball Tourny last night, I left before it ended, but Dave was playing in the finals. He was playing as Gary. He came through here about 15 yrs ago and cleaned up. Pretty sporty player. If you judged him by his looks, you would definetely match up. One thing we noted that was kinda funny, he wore a worn out straw hat, flip flops with socks, an old shirt, but his jeans were starched and creased.:D

Say, someone jot my memory. There was a thin red head road player that came through and played at Raytown Rec. for a long time . I thought he was from Texas. He wore A leather hat, player one pocket real good ,plus 9 ball. He matched up with Benny "The Goose" playing snooker. I thought he made a mistake cause Benny cut his teeth on snooker and I had money on him. Yelh!!! Is this the same Dave??

Hi Les,

I was wondering the same thing. The Hippie Dave that played in Raytown 20 years ago was slim, red headed with a gotee, and wore flip flops. He always shot with an open bridge. My favorite story with him was the time that he was playing a local some cheap sets of 9-ball. Raytown Rec had the best hamburgers cooked on a cheap grill. Anyway, after Dave won the first set he ordered a hamburger (now that he had some money :)), then went back and flipped for a second set. The local player said later that he knew he was in trouble when he paid for the hamburger with the money he had just won. He had no chance of winning anything:)

Hippie Dave, ehhhhhh, I mean Gary;) , was a super nice guy and a pretty good player as well..............until he realized he would need to produce some ID to play in the "mid-level players only" tournament. He babbled something about the government taking his picture. He also added that he despises the name "Hippie Dave" and if you call him that, you are no friend of his! Well, Hippie Dave, It was good to meet you!:D

Hippie Dave

Wow I never knew I was aquainted with a well known player. I know hippie. I don't really know him but I talk to him. He offered me lessons @ 30hr. I know others who have taken up lessons from him and I saw the difference. He plays tournemets all around the metroplex. I saw him beat a guy out 1500 in 9ball. Next week that guy came and played at the pool hall everyday hoping hippie would show up to play again. Hippie layed low. I know he doesn't have a home, last I heard he lived out in a car. He seems very
Nice. I know hes a good player after watching him beat players like mark brown, gale gladden, and tj davis in tournaments. He also uses house cues alot but does have several personal cues he'll show up with. He liked to have a half flat tip and the other at an angle so kinda like a roof top pitch. I heard another really good player
Mocking the idea but after loosing a match to him changed from a half moon shaped tip to a completely flat tip. And he could draw a shit ton. I'm thinkin it was more of having a stroke than the tip on both parts.

Oh hippie Dave hangs around Denton tx.I saw him up at J.R. pockets. You know I have played him several times and he is just a friggin marvel to watch. He has a lot of class and very personable.Dont mistake his persona for weakness this guy can keep you racking.

Yep, Gary plays regularly at JR Pockets in Denton, he is still a marvel to watch when a player thinks he has put him in a locked up safety. Watched him many times run multiple racks in 8,9,10, break and out in one hole, even a 100 no count. Good teacher, will even give praise to a player that beats him.
