I wanted to know who was it that thought of the game pool, as in who thought of the color of the balls and such if anyone knows. Wouldn't it be weird but if the balls were different colors my mind was wondering off today thinking how the balls match their colors and such so sorry if this is a stupid question. But i would appreciate it if anyone knows who thought of this wonderful game and invented it. Thanks.

This is a pretty good history, although very long. Doesn't say where the colors of the balls came from, and although it mentions several pioneers of various pool technologies and techniques, it seems like none of the billiard games have a known "inventor".

Billiards is said to come from croquet. And with croquet, you would want each players ball to be a different color. And the weather would not always be good outside for a game of croquet, thus it would be a good thing to move it indoors. Here are some interesting links...
