Hits like a Mcdaniels??

I have been playing with a woodworth cue for a few years now & have migrated to a harder tip to get the kind of feel i like with it.

A few days ago i played with a friend's Mcdaniels cue & i've gotta say, for me the hit is just about perfect. (it's very firm & you can still feel the contact of the ball)

he uses a LePro tip & the hit is firmer than my woodworth with a WB tip.

I'm thinking of selling my woody & getting a steel jointed cue that hits similar to a Mcdaniels.

I know that no 2 cues hit alike, but what cues hit SIMILAR to a mcdaniels??

Try a Capone or a Mottey with a SS joint. They are a little firmer yet, not much and tips make a difference. You could use a Sniper and one of the above cues and it would, IMHO, hit similar to the McDaniel.
 
McDaniel's steel jointed cues hit more like ivory than any thing else. They don't play like a steel jointed cue thanks to his new patented steel joint bumper. I would guess that an ivory jointed Mottey or even a buckhorn jointed Zyler may hit similar. My advice would be to look for cuemakers with 12 inch pro tapers and get an ivory joint. Thats about as similar of a hit as you can get.

The best advice I could give you is go ahead and get a McDaniel, you won't be sorry that you did.

Dishaw has a 12 inch pro
Tad has a 10 inch pro
Scruggs has a 10 inch straight
Mottey has a 9 inch straight
Frey also has a 10 inch straight

Just to make sure you are comparing apples to apples, be aware that the standard McDaniel tip is a Triangle, not a LePro.
 
based on the feedback i'm getting, i'm thinking either a Mcdaniels or a Scruggs. Here's my delima, I prefer the look of an ivory joint, but every cue with an ivory joint that i've hit with has a "soft" hit. I prefer a hit that is crisp.

But since i've never hit with a Scruggs, i'm probably going to go for a Mcdaniels.

get the ivory just sleeved over what material you like. Shouldn't play too much like ivory.
