Didn't Strickland a million for running 11 racks?

7-ball is a joke and shouldn't even be considered a tournament. players will break and what will sink a ball or 2 and all they gotta run is 5 balls. if they can't run 5 or 6 balls then why even bother playing 9-ball.

I agree. Pick anyone from the IPT 150 list and they could "play perfect" 7-ball. Putting that terrible example of pool on TV/ESPN was extremely poor planning and probably did more damage to the sport than good. And what was there - 25 people in the audience? What a joke.

Actually, my favorite part of the TV broadcast was the Olhausen commercial showing Johnny Archer blowing smoke off of his cue stick after he finished running out a table. Well done, though they don't even mention Johnny's name which I think is an oversight. Why not say here's the number-one United States champion or the 2004 Player of the Year, et cetera.

The seats adjacent to the table that the TV public sees are reserved for VIPs, and if one looks closely, you can see the Viking guy, the Olhausen guy who happens to be the current president of the BCA now, Matt Braun's lovely wife, and a few players, most notably Johnny Archer and Corey Deuel. Usually, the players are sitting with the industry sponsors, chewing the fat. ;)

Evidently you didn't watch Corey in the match before he played Thorsten. Corey could do nothing wrong and was making a ball or two on every break and running out. Then when he played Hohmann he couldn't buy a ball on the break. He even listened to Allan Hopkins and gave up on the soft break and tried breaking hard.

That is one of the inherent problems with tournament play. You must bring your best game in every match.

But I agree, Thorsten is a player able to win it all. And to think that about a year ago he was going to give up playing pool altogether. But then, what pool player hasn't said he was going to give up pool?
