Holding value

Studing the threads for a bit it appears to me that the following cues hold or increase in value and turn relatively readily

Barry Szamboti
Joel Hercek
Dennis Searing
Bill Schick
Ron Haley

these seem to hold value and sell but not as quickly

Southwest
Bob Manzoni
White
Scruggs
Sugartree
Black
Stroud
Bender
Kiekel
Blackcreek
Gina
Tad

and a host of others. The Tad and Gina could probably be moved to the list at the top but they dont seem to go poof as the others do. This list is no where extensive and I am in no means implying that any of these cue makers stand head and shoulders above the others. Schick,Gina,Scruggs,Stroud,Black,Tad, all have a long history, some of the others are getting quite a history and some are new. Its just an observation.

The cuemakers you have in the top list are mainly the cuemakers that you have to wait an eternity to get if you just order one.....alot of people would just rather pick one up used. On top of that every cuemaker you metioned in the top list is way over the top on design and finish I think. Most of their cues are either pure show pieces or very very functional works of art.

Also most of the bottom cuemakers are more desireable as players cues than show pieces.

You have a point although when I had them I played my Barry Szamboti, and Shick, and when I get my Searing I intend to play it. Over all I do agree with you that the upper ones I mentioned probably arent played as a rule.
