Holes in GCII rails, I think its a GCII, Could use some help.

OK, now lets talk about the problem with the holes in your rails. Seems to me that at one point in time, the rails had broken off rail bolts, and instead of drilling out the shank of the broken off bolts, removing the cloth and cushions to remove the floating nut plates to repair the rails...SOMEONE got the bright idea to drill out the floating nut plates from the topside of the rails, destroying the set of rails:rolleyes:

It would be easy if that were true, that way I could assign the blame to some moron. But the rail bolt is in the right place, and it goes through the original hole in the slate. I was thinking it was for an ashtray, but that is a goofy ass place to put an ashtray.

So do you have any idea of what I can do to fill it and make it look better?

Send me some more close up pictures to my email addy: realkingcobra@aol.com so I can see exactly what the holes look like, how deep they are, and where they're at in relationship to the bolt nut plates.
