Home Table Lighting Question

Am planning installation of a home table in the boondocks of Thailand.

The selection of lighting fixtures is very limited and can only find 1 meter fluorescent tube fixtures.

With the way the room structure is constructed, would be very easy to install 4 or 5 1 meter fixtures perpendicular to the long axis of the table and not parallel to it.

I have never seen this done, but is there any particular technical reason this would not be acceptable for lighting the playing surface?

That would work, you just have to have the correct ballast (s) for the number of lights.

I designed a box light, with track lights on the side, so I could use the swirly fluorescent lights (lots of illumination). Easy to swap bulbs.
