Home table subrail work. any tips?

Eh, whatever.....There are several cheap, and or free vids and such around. Hell, there's even an ad for simonis's on the top of my screen right now, so you just keep being cute, protecting your "secrets", lol. BTW ,have you seen the diamond guy on youtube? Good stuff. All we need is a good rails vid to go with it, and you should'nt be bothered with questions much after that:thumbup:
Again, your misunderstanding the thread...the post Donnie put on here was about sub-rail work...never once did he say anything about recovering a table....Donnie already knows everything there is to know about recovering a pool table...He was asking for tips on sub-rail work.

I have no problem with info on recovering tables...the sub-rail work that's being done on todays table.....well let's just say...with the calibrating of rails..the different bevels and miters....your not going to find on here or anywhere for that fact...hell the manufactures can't even get it right.

Glen and I spent hours on the phone...working together...and making mistakes to get as close to right as we are now...no it's not perfect...but it's reel good.

The last year I've spent with Bobby DeTurk...he and I talked for hours..and when we finally had the chance to work on rails together...well I'll bet all I can carry...no one can do any better...with out doubt they can do it as good...but not better...BAR NONE !
The sub rail work is what I was talking about...never did I intend to put Donnie down in any way...I hope he learns to do sub-rail work better than all of us.

I have no ego...trust me on that...anyone that comes to me and ask to show them how to do the sub-rail work the right way....they got it.

I'm no better than anyone on this forum...but sub-rail work is my specialty ...that kind of work is not for this forum...I get enough heat from the manufacturers already for making tables play better than new ones.

I don't want to put you down...nor do I want to be put down...this kind of work has everything to do with the playability of the tables...not the looks of the cloth.

Once again, Mr. Gregory, i want to apologize to you for making you think i was directing my rant at you, or anyone in particular. I was not. It just seems that most times i see someone ask for assistance, they get the cold shoulder, and are told to call a pro. I'm sure i'm not the only one who notices this. I mean, any pro mech. that thinks that someone wanting to recover their own personal table is somehow threatening their livelyhood, well, they might just need to seek some pro help of their own, if you know what i mean;) I for one just recovered my 2nd. table in my life, and am more than satisfied with the results. I know it's not perfect, but i also know it's a far better job than the last person who covered it did. Here's a pic for ya. I plan on getting the simonis dvd's, and ridgeback rails, and redoing them in the near future, but for now, it plays as good or better than most of the bartables around my area, and they have simonis on them too.

No need to apologize, you may have miss understood what I was upset about...I have no problem what so ever with people doing their own work on their own pool tables...I help anyone....I should not have said anything on this matter in the first place.

I just got upset that Donnie would ask for help on and open forum....showing the work he was attempting to fix...When he's a professional table mechanic in the first place.
I guess I was wrong...for that I'm staying out of the forum with my views and opinions.
I don't look down on Donnie for that..I just think in my mind he made a mistake in asking on the forum...instead of a phone call to one of his fellow mechanic's.

No harm, I'm sorry if I have offended anyone on this matter....was not my intentions.
looks like a very nice job you've done on your table....great for you and it feels good to do your own table.....that's how I started doing this work years ago....a lot of years ago:(

People should ask some questions on how to.....but even that only goes so far....I truly hope you understand what I mean.......We can't just tell all...but there's so much we can tell with out hurting anyone else's business.
I truly hope we all can close this matter and move on....this is not helping anyone.

Thank you for your understanding of everything,
Respectfully your friend
