After almost 18 years I returned to my hometown of Nashville on Thanksgiving day.. When I left Nashville was a pool Mecca. I went to JOB's. It's a ****ing dump. A regular pigsty. There used to be pool halls & pool bars everywhere. So far the only decent place I have found is TNT BILLIARDS on South Nolensville Pike.

What the hell happened to Nashville? Where are the pool bars & pool halls here. Are you friggin kidding me?! Anyone who has any information that would help, I went be much obliged.

I was in Nashville not long ago. We evacuated for the hurricane and made a road trip out of it. I took my cues with me. Stopped in JOBs, had never been there before.

Why do you say it is a dump?

Simple, I went to JOB,s. It was dark, dingy, dirty & dismal. The carpet floors were dirty stained, ripped and torn. The felt on the Diamond tables were stained and appeared to be dirty. JOB,s used to be a world class pool hall. Now it looks a very large Dive bar. I did not even play. James would never have allowed his place of business to become so run down & utterly unappealing. Not only was it disappointing but I found it to be close to being disgusting. This would be defined as a dump.

I guess I have been around too much then. I liked it. LOL! But that's me. And I do hang around in dive bars, though my local pool hall is very nice.

If you just look around the area you can see the issue. Pawn shops, check cashing stores, payday loan shops.... The area is economically crushed.

Pool, for the vast majority, is a recreation. How can people afford to recreate when they are broke?

I had not been to Tennessee in about 10 years, and I had only been to Memphis before. I really don't know what Nashiville area was like before so I can't comment.

As far as I know the state has done fine economically, so I am guessing the money is not making it where it should. Probably concentrated in certain areas while other areas are neglected.

I am sorry for what you experienced. I am from Pittsburgh and haven't been home in a lot if years. Last time I was there I was impressed with how much things had gotten better since I was a kid.
