Hoppe or titlist conversion, what is your preference?

Got to love them

Love them 3 surprised them colors are so much looking like 1950-60s them 3 compnversions are sweet! I just fell into the purple, green, rosewood, and natural rosewood ones I just posted. But just a little color lesson. Hope you guys enjoy this topic as much as I am. I love titlist cues!

My all time fav!

Enjoy !
So I have showed a Gina and Samsara and there are tons of them out there by the top cue makers ever! Just a few Balabushka, Szamboti, Tad, Kersenbrock, Ginacue, Palmer, Paradise, Rambow, Brunswick, Gus Adams, Cal Hedden just a few. Now what about quality of a titlist blank?

Let me say this.

I was buying titlist for $100 for years, then it seemed like $200, now they go for $400. If you find ebony break out the checkbook!

I have probably had 10 titlist conversions done over the years.

What I am saying about quality of them, is the ones I have seen lately are thin and super light, not the best for conversions.

The Gus remark was a joke, I understand that a Gus or George titlist will be first class, I was just rattling your cage. I have a couple Gus cues and while neither of them are titlists, I am a fan of Gus cues.

Best of rolls,

Ken

Yes sir you are right about some of the cues now a days being sold. And the people selling them think they are gold when they a crap! " For in our world of conversions" but I will say eBay tossed up 11 1940s titlist I was happy to say I lost all of them to people that thought they knew more than me :) way over paid for skinny cues only good for cutting forearms and butts! You might get away with adding a long azz butt cap but NO! I have been super lucky the last ones I have found have been fat and found 3 super fat ones! I don't buy others conversions like the big boys ! Can't afford the NAMES ill make my own nothing in a conversion cue that = more money than a high $ name. But that's the business.

Interesting thread topic.....would love to hear other opinions. You sometimes see the terms hoppe, hoppe ring or hoppe style used when they doesn't really seem appropriate. Imo 'hoppe' or 'hoppe style' simply equates to a thin white/ivory ring and a short butt plate, usually on a cue with a somewhat lengthened butt sleeve. It could have inlays and such, but the cue being a Titlist isn't necessarily a prerequisite.

Here are a few Titlist conversion examples by Andy Gilbert from our archives vault.

One majorly dressed up and one more subdued....hope you enjoy.

hoppe or titlist, I love them both!! just love to see these vintage cues given an overhaul and new life! and I think the late Raist Chin contributed much to my liking of titlists! :)

Anyone who read Raists posts knows he loved titlists and he was a genuinely good guy.

Palmer and Rambow
