What is the easiest way to convert a house cue into a 2 piece cue? I would like to start experimenting with cues and thought it would be a good start, any suggestions?

Cut the cue in half
Put the butt half in your lathe, face the joint, then bore and tap a hole for the joint pin.
Install the pin.
face off the shaft, bore and cut threads or put in an insert.
The holes and threads have to be dead nuts, and you have to face the ends with the cue turning perfectly, or it will be crooked and noticably off-center.
If you find some used equipment and tooling you could probably make some nice sneaky petes from old house cues for about 5 grand.

A guy just looking to fool around can make sneaky petes on a wood lathe with a few extra attachments for a few hundred dollars. When I was a kid I made them and worked out a method to drill perfect holes and face off the joints, it was easy. I must have made a few hundred of them from Valley house cues. Funny thing is, you could just buy them already made from valley for like $12.00, mine may have been a little better though and it was fun.
