How about SVB vs. Schmidt in a triathlon?

Sounds to me like Shawn wants SVB to lose at something. Shane would have no chance at that all around game (based on what little I know). How about 10b, 9b and 8b? I'd bet some on Shane playing anyone in those 3 games, but even there he's probably not the favorite against some of the Philipinos.

I do hope theactionreport guys put together some kind of one pocket game. They can charge double since only us one pocket fans will watch.
I don't want him to lose. I want him to step out of his comfort zone. Everyone wants to hand him the title of "King of Pool" because he beat Corey at his own game. I think SVB is a great player, but I really consider 10-ball to be a specialist's game. It's not played by most players on a frequent basis. Now, if 10-ball becomes the game of choice in the pro events in the upcoming years, then keep playing it. I think he'd have tougher competition in a game like 9-ball or straight where there are plenty of established players that play those games at a high level. I mentioned Schmidt because I feel he may be the hottest player, or one of the hottest players, on the planet right now. He plays strong, and we know he'll gamble. I'd like to see Shane step into a match where he thinks he'll need to play his absolute best to have a chance of winning. That's all I was saying. I don't want anyone to lose - I want to see a grinder match, where SVB really has to challenge himself.

OK, fair enough. I seem to recall a post from a previous thread stating that Shane told Bowman "let's just flip a coin" when asked to play 9 ball (on a bar table). This is when they were trying to match up in Vegas. It could be that he just feels there's too much luck in 9 ball. I think they ended up playing 8 ball and Shane won, 13-1 and 13-9 IIRC.

To me, 10 ball is a bit more advanced than 9 ball in that it's tougher to make a ball and run out. You said yourself that you can beat the 9 ball ghost and not the 10 ball ghost, why? I would submit because it's a more difficult game.

Shane is very good at 10 ball and 9 ball. He's also very good at 8 ball. I don't think he plays 14.1 and one pocket so it would be foolish for him to step into a competition that features those games.

If you want to see those games played, look for two people that specialize in those games. There are plenty of one pocket specialists around, I'd love to see that happen.
