How big is the core hole in an older Predator 314 shaft? Can I take the tip down to 12.5 safely?

I just acquired a couple Predator Cat Shafts. These I believe are the 2nd issue shaft, (with the 314 and cat logo on them), before the 314-2, -3 etc. I assume these have the first few inches cored out behind the ferrule.

These measure about 12.74 at the ferrule. I'd like to take the shaft OD down to about 12.5mm at the tip and the balance of the shaft accordingly. My question is can this be done and not create a wall thickness that is too thin and compromise the structure of the first say, 5" of the shaft?

I've done this on a couple of old precats I have but I'm not even sure if the old 1st gen precats were cored out?

Thanks for any replies

Yes 12.5 is safe

I have a pre-cat 314 that’s probably tapered down to about 11-11.25mm. I’ve had it about 5 years and it was tapered well before I purchased it. No issues.

I’ll put a caliper on it tonight and get the exact measurement.
