Probably would not pay out for them. Could be worked into a all around. But I suspect that you would need to bump the very vocal 1PK/8Ball/14.1 crowd. Tough.
IMHO I don't think as many people would pay to see a bank TAR match as as a rotation game TAR match. I know I wouldn't pay to watch it. I probably wouldn't watch it if it were streamed free.
Any combination of the above would be a great match. I am all for showcasing the various pool disciplines that pool has to offer. 10 ball is great, but that's not all there is for sure. I enjoy a well rounded pool experience. I play all games (though not particularly well) and I enjoy watching them all too. I would tune in to a dedicated bank pool TAR match for what its worth.
Maybe if the situation is right they could do a bank ring game derby style. Bonus ball and the BCA nationals might get enough good players there in LV to do that. I agree though that banks is a tough sell for PPV.
I love bank pool and would pay for this; however, like others have mentioned it may not fly on its own.
But, I recall someone earlier posting about having an under-card match at future TAR events - I think a bank pool under-card between one of the aforementioned Brumback/Murphy/Hall would be a great idea.
I also like this suggestion a lot! This way you can get 4 - 6 of the best bank pool players involved (assuming the payout is worth it). My picks would be Brumback/Murphy/Hall/Daulton/Miller/Pagulayan - wishful thinking I know...:grin-angelic:
I think for viewership, 11 ball short rack (medium rack?) might be a good compromise between the (perceived) tic tac element of full-rack to the 100% offense of short rack 9 ball banks.
And the race would need to be significant. I'd say 15 at least.
At this moment, I'd pick Shannon Murphy and Justin Hall.
I know nothing about banks, but it seems like everyone nominates brumback as the best banker right now. So him vs. the recent champ, Justin Hall, makes a lot of sense.
Let's just say that if they had a bank match featuring neither of these names, casual fans like me probably won't tune it... I barely have heard of those 2, anyone less 'famous' (regardless of their ability) wouldn't draw enough viewers.
But, who are we kidding, efren vs. alex would draw more viewers, even if those other guys bank better.
And as long as we're not kidding ourselves, other games besides banks will draw more viewers yet. I can't imagine there will ever be a TAR bank PPV unless everyone wants to bet his own and fly out on their own dime. As nick notes, it might crop up in some sort of all-around.
