How can you tell a spain blank from a szamboti blank??

just curious
vinniebabarooch showed 2 george balabushka cues each with spain and a szamboti blank respectively
i wondered how can you tell ??

Very often, two good signs. One, the Spain points will be shorter than the Gus points, assuming about equal use of rings above forearm, and overall forearm length. Second, often though not always, Spain blanks tend to have more muted color veneers than Gus. Probably somewhat due to age, but also selection of veneers. There are always exceptions. Hope this helps.

Most of the Spain blanks were the same colors of veneers you see on the Spain blank in the picture. Gus varied his colors.
 
Here is a Burton Spain full splice.Sorry that the forearm pics aren't great.I gotta take better ones,lol.Enjoy.
