HI Everyone,

Long-time reader of the forum, just registered.

I have been trying the 10ball speed rating system, and its amazign how my results differ.

Ive always been an "inconsistent" player, I let my mind play the game, ie if I feel great then I play great etc etc.

Ive been playing about 2 months since my 3 year gap, and Im getting some form back. I cant practise much until I get my own table, but I try :D

From the 10ball speed system, from 10 racks my scores are so differing, because one day I play good another I play like a chump!

Highest score is 80 from 10 racks and lowest 46

Dont understand my huge difference here?

One thing might be the 3 year gap, or using BHE on the aiming strokes rather than the last stroke (been changing alot of stuff around).

Any opinions on how one day I can score 80 and another just 46...

Thanks

I have been trying this system as well. The break seems to be the biggest difference maker IMO. If I am breaking well, I am 50-55. If I am not I can be 20-30. I don't think any rating system is going to be perfect, but until I find something else I will continue with this. It does seem to offer feedback to yourself over a period of time. It is difficult to see improvement in your game unless you are constantly in action or tournament play.

The break is very important, I agree. I take ball in hand after the break and proceed from there. Normally the balls break well, but of course sometimes there are mini-clusters.

The other day I played 9ball against someone local in the club, and I lost 6-3. I played awful, could not run 3 balls, what a joke. Its funny because before the match when I was practising I was playing well, lol.

Been trying to sort my mental game since I started playing, its very hard to do.

Many things can affect the score. The biggest is probably how the balls are breaking. But if you play enough times, and plot the results on a graph, you can draw a best fit line and hopefully find that the trend is upwards.

I think even my averages would be up and down like a yoyo the way my game is at the moment.
What I really need to to do drills everyday, but I cant until I have my own table. I really feel its holding me back.
