How come I can't stroke with linen wrap cues?

I can't stand wraps. My playing cue is a wrapless Dominiak Kandycurly. Great value for $150. What surprises me is that I've had the cue for 8 months & yet lately I've gotten a ton of comments & questions about it!

Exact reason I prefer wrapless. 90% of the cues I build are wrapless.

thats why I only play with a Cue-Tec since I turned pro this week

I think it has more to do with how much your palms sweat. I am unfortunately one with damp palms in all but the coldest weather. and for me a linen wrap is the best. It absorbs excess moisture in a way that no other wrap (including wrap less) does. For me it actually provides more grip than a wrap less cue. In this regard it truly is a personal preference. I get an uncontrollable slip stroke when using wrap less or even leather wrapped cues unless I grip way to tight.

To each his own.

I just bought a cue with a Cork Wrap, never tried it but many people have said it is very confortable. personaly I dont care what wrap the cue has, this has never had any effect on my game. my hands dont really sweat alot tho, and Ive always liked super slick double pressed and shinny wrap, I like the "silky" feeling, my point is, If I have a wrap, Im not going to dope it with Vasaline or something, just buy whatever cue style that fits you..

I grip the cue, I use my pointer finger and thumb only, and I grip the cue this tight, lay your cue on the table, pick it up.. thats the amount of power I use for the grip.
