How do Predator shafts play on Poison butt?

Hi,

I'm looking to buy a 314 shaft for my Poison Arsenic 4 and I was wondering if you guys got the chance to check the combo out and see how they get along together.

I didn't mention which shaft in the title, cause I'm interested what you have to say about any Predator shaft on any Poison butt :D

Cheers,
Alex

The shaft ain't gonna know what it's attached to,given the length, taper,& weight are similar to a pool cue butt. It won't even know if the finish cracks, the rings/inlays pop,or if it develops a rattle !!!

As was said above, will play the same, the shaft doesn't know what it is attached to.
The butt is just a handle for the shaft.

Buy one from Seyberts and try it. Call first about their return policy. Be sure you understand how the exchange/return works

Yeah, you make a good point. The shaft will have the same feel and hit, when attached to any pool cue butt (just so there is nothing loose in the butt for example). All that I can add is that the butt and shaft should match up very flush with each other, since the 2 cues are made in the same factory.

Doesn't matter, as both cues are made by the same company. Poison = Predator

They play well togehter, especially considering they're siblings. Adopted, but still siblings.

Thanks all for the replies.

However, I didn't notice anyone saying they actually played the combo.
I'm still hoping someone that played hands on with a Poison-Predator hybrid to jump in with some conclusions.

In theory, I totally agree with your replies. But theory is just theory :D

Why do you expect it to play differently?
If you like how Predator shafts play, buy one and play with it. Although I higly recomend a SS360/2 shaft instead.

I have a poison cue and I'm also thinking about buying a new shaft.
I have played with a predator with 314-3 on it and i liked it very much, I assume it will play the same on my poison but.

The thing I'm worried about is the joint. Uniloc QR isn't so different than the Bullet my poison has, so no problem with the 314-3.

But I'm thinking of a shaft by a local cue maker. I've tried 2-3 of his shafts and it hits amazingly (at least for my taste). Less diflection than the 314-3 and great feel. But he insists that in order for his shafts to play that good he has to change my bullet pin into a wood joint. He can install a bullet joint to his shaft, but he says that it won't play as good, and he says that the best option is to change my butt joint.

Do you think that the joint plays such a big role?

I am worried that if I end up changing my butt joint and don't like my new shaft for some reason, I won't be able to use my Venom shaft, which I like a lot....

I have a poison anthrax that I have a predator 314-2 shaft for. It is a good paring. I haven't played with a 314 on another cue so I can comment on any noticeable difference but I don't think there would be much, if any. I do like the 314-2 over the venom shaft that came with the cue.

That's great. Does the 314 fit just as perfect as the original Venom shaft?

I think you're making up reasons. I think you got enough explicit answers.

The Poison company is a Predator company. If a Predator shaft didn't play well on a Poison butt, that would be the dumbest move in all of the cue World.

Freddie <~~~ of at least third dumbest

Interesting. I have two Meucci cues, one an old hof 1, and their demo cue I got about 8 yrs ago with a power piston butt. Put the black dot on the hof 1 butt. Without question has different feel. Does it play different? That I couldn't say, didn't play it much that way.

On the contrary, when speaking to Predator over the phone they did educate me quite a bit about how a different but can in fact play differently. From the joint, to the collar, to the entire construction of the butt, each will produce a distinctly different result. Thus they reasoning they have 3 different butt builds available. the P3 Tech, C4+, and True Splice.

I have tested this theory in person and they do hit different, the firmer being P3 down to the least firm being the True Splice.

How does Poison play into my point? They are built differently than that of the other 3, therefore adding another level of feel to the equation.

OP: use the Poison website to locate an authorized dealer that has a demo center and go try for yourself. At the end of the day if it feels right to you, then its right.

I think they might "feel" different on different butts but when it comes to putting balls in the hole, no difference
