play? what's the balance point (from the butt with shaft attached) and joint diameter? is the butt basically a P2 butt with a radial pin?
The Quiet Rollers are totally different. The butt construction of the Rollers is nothing but wood, all normal with no special technology at all unlike the P2's that have the 10 splice butt.Granted they do hit well, but I believe the Quiet Roller2 is better wood combo. The Roller#1 is just maple painted black(not ebony)and a Coco handle. The only similarity's between the P2 and the Quiet Rollers is the shaft. But if you like the radial hit the QR #2 is the best bang for the buck.Takecare:smile:
No I don't use the quiet Roller but I do use predator.I know Johnny Morra and he was playing with a Quiet Roller and really liked it but I just seen him on tv on the Border Battle series against the USA and he had something different but still he had a Predator shaft.Johnny used to use a Layani pool cue for years and he still says to this day that he played his best pool with a layani but predator wanted to sponser him and the story ends.Myself I've played with alot including Lambros which hits real nice, lots of Predators but if you like a forward balanced cue,try a Layani with a Predator shaft on it,totally different joint and hit.Takes a bit to zone into because i found spinning the ball really really easy and if your a touch player you'll love it.Balance is real big for me in a cue and I find forward is better for my game because it makes me follow right through my stroke instead of poking at shots.I finished 3rd at the Canadian Championships in the Ameteur 9ball and I really dont play at all do to work and kids but if not using a Predator shaft(old ones) I'd be screwed, and trust me I've played with all of them but always went back to a old Predator shaft.Goodluck to you:smile:thanks for the info bud. is that what you're using?

Old shafts, old chalk, old Shon's. I guess if it ain't old its not worth having. Hey wait a minute I'm old.![]()
The Predator shafts with just the 314 on it and the ones with the cat on it are the exact same. The materials are the exact same. The ones made now are different and in my opinion not as good. There are old ones out there but make sure everything is original if you purchase one.If the ferrule has been replaced that completely changes what the hit was meant to be.Guys on AZ have them just make sure there original with no tampering.Takecare and goodluck!Oh ya,I was wrong about Johnny Morra,I guess he's not playing with Predator anymore but who knows maybe next month that will change!Where can someone get one of these old predator shafts?
subscribing! I'd really like to try a Quiet Roller with the birdseye--it's a hot combo for sure. Although, if it's just dyed, straight-grain maple, the QR1 has the formula for a great hitting cue. I just prefer the looks of the cocobolo forearm better. (too bad they don't make a birdseye forearm and coco handle....) Here's some pics for those who would like to see what we're talking about.

i know it's just stained maple but i like the look of the black one with the cocobolo wrap. to be honest i'd dig it more if it had a black wrap and simple phenolic joint
I bought QR1 once and could not play it even for a week. I recently tried a friends white P3 and played phenomenol.
I would suggest you buy predator sneaky a much better playing cue:thumbup:
There's a misconception about the Quiet Roller1 and 2 and the advertized pictures of these cues is one of the problems.First, I would say that none of these cues are wood on wood and I'll tell you why.The shafts on these cues look identical to the P2 shafts with a thin black Phenolic wafer on the bottom of the shaft. Now on the Quiet roller1 it has the cocobolo joint, which is a hard, dense wood, but on the Quiet Roller2 the joint is birdseye which isn't as dense but the cool thing with the #2 is that they also put a thin black Phenolic wafer on top of the joint as well as the shaft which makes for a pretty hard stiff hit.I guy I know has the #2 and says anybody that likes the stiff radial hit will love this cue.On the #1 they should of put that wafer on the joint also.If you could see both in person ,the joint area looks cleaner on the #2 with that wafer on it,where the #1 is just bare. The guy I know is no slouch and has had tons of big big cues. His opinion is this cue hits better than anything he's ever shot with.Everyone can have a bad day with any cue,but since he got this one he's had a lot less of them!:smile:Goodluck on the searchI'm interested in getting a Predator QR2 and I was wondering how does the wood to wood joint hit/feel?
I normally play with a Schon STL8 with a 314-2 and a Predator Willie Hoppe with a Z2 shaft.
Thanks.
