how do you break against the ghost?

I was wondering, for people who consistently beat the ghost, where are you breaking from, given that you don't have to squat the rock? Are you hammering them from near the middle? soft breaking from the side? hammering it from the side? What kind of speed and break spot do you find produces the best results?

thanks

10 ball - slightly to either side of center table
9 ball - usually right side of table. Sometimes left.
I'm always obsessed with getting the cue ball to come back and stop in the center of the table. Whatever speed accomplishes that on any given table is what I use. It's usually about 70% power.

Racking 9-Ball, for situational purposes isn't difficult. You can arrange balls, leave spaces in the rack & on & on & on.

However, if you are trying to beat the ghost, on a high percentage, arrange the balls to give you some edge. If you are wanting this info, to make things easy, while you are wagering, that's one thing. If you are wanting to practice real life situations... just rack 'em, whack 'em, take ball in hand & go at it.

Nine-ball break from where ever you want, 10-ball and up break from the center, you'll have fewer tie-ups along the rails with the more even spread.

Breaking from the center or a couple of inches off center in 9 ball will give you a nice even spread much of the time. Only problem is if you don't pot a ball, in which case you've just handed your opponent an easy rack to run. Food for thought... Now, if your opponent isn't that good, no harm done. If on the other hand you're playing a runout player, your goose may be cooked.

some of you people aren't reading his question. he's asking about breaking against the ghost. not just breaking in general.

i break basically the same way i would if i were playing an opponent. from the side rail........but, since i'm playing the ghost and get ball in hand after the break.........i focus on hitting the rack much harder, i still try to control the cue, but i don't really focus on it, i just break a bit harder to get a better spread.
