What do you do to keep your shaft in shape and what chemicals, waxes, etc. do you use? Cleaning? Burnishing? Sanding? Waxing? Sealing? New shaft what to do?
(I have a new custom shaft which is bare wood, but it seems to need sanding every few weeks to make it slick again. I clean it with denatured alcohol and magic eraser and that works OK. But to make it slick, I've tried waxes, pledge, burnishing with leather, etc. But after a few weeks, the only thing which makes it *really* slick again is 600 grit sandpaper then 1500 grit sandpaper. I just sand lightly a little, but I'm afraid to keep doing this as I may wind up with a tooth pick! I have another cue I use for breaking[Schmelke] which has a shaft which always seems to stay slick. All I need to do with that is burnish it with leather and clean it. It seems to have some sort of sealer on it? But of course I don't use that cue as much as my other cue.)
