How do you make position here?

You have ball in hand on the 1...what's the best way to get from the 2 to the 3?

How about this? Play the 1 in the side and follow the cueball into the rail and beind the 7 and leave this natural angle for the 2 to the 3.

Sorry for diagrapm. This is how I would play it;

START(
%A[9K2%Bk7T3%CE2S5%FJ7H8%Gc7I5%IO6N6%P\5R9%Ur3H2%Vk2S5%WV6Z2
%Xp0C8%YF0Q9%ZT4Z6%eA3a5
)END

Speed is important because you will brush the 3 ball.

Another way though it is almost like I would have to have the shot in front of me to visualize the CB around the table. That is to draw with inside english to bring CB to long rail first.

.
EDIT( i didn't read the whole post so my 2nd is not a good option. I started with the CB where it lies and played the 2.) Louis has a very good option.

Stop the cue at the one and come the 2-rails off the 2 with high (just left of center) leaving the 2 in the area of A.

START(

to get from the 2 to the 3, would you take the same line that rsb-refugee suggested? my concern is getting hooked behind the 6 or 9, possibly hitting the 6, or being to close to the rail..

I think that might be my second choice, Louis.

What about going off the head rail and playing on the short side of the 3 like this:

START(
%A[9K2%Bk7T3%CE2S5%FJ7H8%Gc7I5%IO6N6%P_0K9%QG0X8%RP7\8%SP0]1
%Ut1[7%Vl0U0%Wj4S0%X`1L7%Yr5U0%Zk9S7%[N0[4%\r3V2
)END

If you hit anywhere between 1 to 2 diamonds out of the corner, you should roll into position. Also, this takes the other balls out of the shot.

Hahaha! Looks like we're on the same page. You beat me to the post by a nano second :p

I like to shoot it like this:

Use an angle on the 1-ball and stun it over for an angle on the two as shown and that gives you natural angle to go up table for the 3.

You know, this was my first choice too, but I didn't like the steepness of the angle coming off the 2. The chance of hitting the 9 seemed likely, and that could be disastrous.

This is the route I would take. Ensuring the CB gets all the way down table (certainly hit 2 cushions or even 3 cushions, just NOT 1 cushion) will prevent getting hooked, as will a proper line to the second cushion (hit second rail 1.25 diamonds or even with the 6 ball, guaranteed to be below the 6 that way). It is also fairly imune to weight errors, notwithstanding the hook potential when fairly light (only 1 cushion). Immunity to errors is how I judge between routes.

can you get to the '3' off the '2' using Natural Angle??? seems like on this shot you would have to either hit it low, stun, or with alot of right english to get the cue ball to do what this diagram shows. if i shot this natural i would probably hit the '9' ball, or else come up short of it and be nowhere near the position you want.

In the diagramed angle I would be putting a bit of low to get the angle shown. If you stunned the the shot then the nine would probably be in the way. I'm pretty confident in getting to the three once I've gotten that shape on the two. The only thing is getting the correct angle on the two.

That was my concern exactly!

That is a very good path. The only thing I would worry about is kicking the 6 in front of the 3. It does work very well though.

That's why I changed my mind and opted for the stop and follow on the 2. The 2-rails is more forgiving and I want to be sure to get in position to make the 6 or all is in vain.
