How do you put out a "cue for sale/trade" feeler?

I wouldn't do that. Generally people don't like that. You want a price and take offers, or a firm price, one of the two.
.

i did exactly that, opened a for sale thread, stated it's unknown, tagged @ $1300.00 w best offer option.
it's not a bad cue, feels pretty good, there are a few things i've noted that lead me away from big time makers.
(post more about that later)

The more I look at it, I'm pretty sure it was made from a Prather blank, and it's maybe a
$500 cue, probably less.

now we're getting somewhere

feedback is really good so far, it's listed in the for sale section as "unknown".
many people are chiming in about cue.
one of the az pro builders suggested Spitz using a Davis blank or a full blown 100% John Davis.
cue identity help
I saw the post about the cue you are trying to identify. It could very well be a John Davis cue. It looks like its built on one of his blanks, and that looks like his pin (it pilots on the base of the pin). Also, he has done alot of shafts like that where the black collar on the shaft also goes up into the the shaft and is threaded to accept the pin. Like a collar and insert combined. Spitz also built a few cues using some of johns pins but i dont think he left the body of the pin stick out like that as a pilot, and he usually signed most of his cues. Hope that helps a bit. If you have any questions, you can email me at princecues@comcast.net . I rarely log in here to retreive messages.

someone contacted me with mention of Richard Black.
no way in the world that cue is a black.
it really is a nice cue, shaft has wear up near the ferrule, roughness of raised wood.
tip is dry, real dry, like an old kamui, i need to get a better look at the ferrule.
ivory? ivorine? maybe reconstituted, i try to get a better photo and hopefully find grain.
i still can't figure what it was doing in a carolina pawn shop.

Don't do best offer. You'll garner resentment.

Make sure it's not a Carolina. Then, try to get a hold of the McDaniel offshoots in TN (Good luck with that, and if you do, good luck getting a straight answer.)

Try Nemic. Try Prince.

Or, just sell it to me. :)

I believe for $100 he will take the time to look at it and say yes or no.
