how do you shake nerves on league night?

those funny cigarretes J/K, i still get nerves on league nights, but its a good thing to have them i think and after my first match they are gone.

I am currently suffering from a problem.

I play in two separate 8ball leagues in my area, one of the leagues contains some of the best players in my area and the other contains very few great players and the rest are average.

In the Tuesday night league (the one with the better players) I am playing on a top notch table with a group of good players who are more acquaintances than friends but I am playing really well particularly under pressure and the team wins most of the games we play.

In the Thursday night league (more of a pub league) I am playing on an exceptionally poor table (table on wheels with only on wheel brake working, balls down the rail roll so far away from the rail that the best player in my area could not pot a single ball down the rail, pocket liners jut out slightly and stop balls from being pocketed at times) in this league I am playing in a team of my best friends and I am struggling to win a game at home, I get down to certain shots and know that they will not go but on the other hand I do not want to change my shot selection.

I am not sure what to do as I do not see any benefit in playing in the Thursday night league but because they are such good friends I feel obliged to play but I am struggling mentally to cope with the conditions and it is beginning to rock my confidence.

I thinkn what you have to remember, is table conditions effect both players, the player better able to adapt is going to win on a bad table.

The only way to adapt to different playing conditions is to play different places. Consider thursday night bad table college and learn from it. besides, it sounds like Thursdays is more a social thing than anything, keep that in mind and have fun.

No emotion, no chance.
Too much emotion, no chance.

Sounds like you don't have any motivation for this league. Set some goals to finish as the top shooter.

Also Greenman might have hit upon something as well. The equipment can change the way you play your game. Just remember your best game on that crappy table is better than thier game on that same crappy table.
