After reading all the posts on this thread ignor the ones that say you can't shoot with a cue without it turning blue, If you talk with any cue builder they will tell you about many shaft cleaning products out there most do a great job I myself have a bottle of superslick shaft cleaner then I put a coat of Q Wax on . The key thing is to get the wax on before you use a new shaft , it this seals the open grains in the wood this gets rid of the hard to get clean areas . Depending on how much you play when tournements are in town have a quality shaft cleaning done with a lathe just seems like those guys have "Magic" stuff ! LOL But for my last idea and answer to your question that the other posters pretty much left out is Keep your hands clean wash them (with soap
