How do you win from here?

shoot into the foot rail with a 45 degree angle and jump the ball off the rail over the pack and make the 1-9 combo. :)

I actually had a very similar setup two weeks ago after the break in a tounament. No jump cues allowed.No pushout. With a jump cue, you just jump the junk in the way and win. I had to full jump off the point to try and make it. Didn't get it, but proved it's possible! :D

Ah the power of the forum. I would usually just start racking the balls from there...but looking at it again, I'm starting to see some shots. (3 pages)

CueTable Help

BTW: For all those "all ball foul" guys out there, you could just walk up to the table, move the 9 somewhere else, and take your foul. That's why I despise all ball fouls.

Sort of. Intentionally moving a ball is not a normal foul, it qualifies as Unsportsmanlike Conduct and as such you may recieve a more punishing penalty.

WPA rule book Version 21.12.2007 said:
6.16 Unsportsmanlike Conduct
The normal penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct is the same as for a serious foul, but the referee may impose a penalty depending on his judgment of the conduct. Among other penalties possible are a warning; a standard-foul penalty, which will count as part of a three-foul sequence if applicable; a serious-foul penalty; loss of a rack, set or match; ejection from the competition possibly with forfeiture of all prizes, trophies and standings points.
Unsportsmanlike conduct is any intentional behavior that brings disrepute to the sport or which disrupts or changes the game to the extent that it cannot be played fairly. It includes
(a) distracting the opponent;
(b) changing the position of the balls in play other than by a shot;
<c - h omitted for brevity>

If I have that after a break I am calling my timeout and going to get a beer.

What to do

I'm assuming this is a game of 9 ball. Playing the cue ball off the pocket corner is very risky at best and busting open the pack to pocket the nine will spot the nine and give your opponent ball-in-hand with an open table.

It is very easy to see the tangent off the seven ball and jumping the pack off the right face of the seven ball offers a fairly reliable line to connect with the one ball and still leave your opponent a mess to deal with despite getting ball in hand.

Moving the 9 with your hand would be a blatant foul resulting in a lost game. I've had this shot made against me. The player jumped the cueball into the side rail titty hopping over the obstructing balls.

I still think i would jump the balls and pocket the 9..give him bih...tough out from there..

Looks like about a chalk between the cueball and the 2... Sure am glad jump cues are allowed in most places/tournaments.... Who was the Nit running the tournament where they were illegal Neil????
