How does kielwood machine

Should someone cut kielwood as they would a regular piece of hard maple, or is this wood stable enough to make it what you want the same day? Looking to venture into kiel wood, something different

It's more stable, but it will still sometimes move after cutting.
It will be pretty safe to cut it down a lot more aggressively than standard, but care must still be taken in the final stages.

Kielwood is brittle. Sharp cutters are essential!
No wooden shaft can be made in a day, Kielwood or not. Can you work it faster than regular maple? sure, but let the wood move between cuts as usual. You will get rejects with Kielwood too.
If you're using a big pin like Radial or 3/8-10, I would highy recommend you use some sort of inserts for the threads. I use paper Micarta.

I have one I'm doing. Customer supplied.
It weighs 3 ounces at 15mm.
Yayyyy
Pathetic!
Yeh I know. Add weight to it.
Why is it, when customers try to help themselves, Cue makers have to pull a Rabbit out of thier ass!

To this I retort:
Your AZZ has been reamed so many times that it is easy for you to doo_O:devilish:

Couldn't help myself

Whew, 3 @ 15, that thing will be paper light at 12.x ..... should make for a seriously ass-heavy package. Good luck on that one!

People who come to my shop wonder why I have the weights written on shafts.
I said shaft weights vary a lot
I just finished a 10mm and a 10.5mm, the weights were 4.2 and 4.4oz.
Old wood!

I just finished a full hickory core that I couldn't get under 21oz, but it is 60" and plays awesome. To each his own I guess! The customer is thrilled with it.
