VERY important.
Sound of the cue / sound of the tip reassures me of consistency

It always has been important

Yes and Yes.......... very important to me. It is always one of the first things I look for with a new tip, next to "feel".I remember when going into a new room when I was a kid, I could always tell who the better players were, just by the sound of their shots.

After installing one of your softs, I had a hard time getting use to the missing tink that I've grown accustomed to. I use to play with elk masters years ago, and that was the first tip I thought of, after a few hits with your soft tip.
I've been a big fan of Kamui's over the last few years. I love the "set" it takes after a few hours of play.(SS-blacks)...... It just needs alot of maintenance.Yes, the Kamui's get harder and harder with time, but it is what it is. My biggest issue with the Kamui is, you need to remove 25-30 percent of the tip right from the start, in order to get it consistent.
Triangle's and Ultraskins are on a few of my cues as well, and they all have that tink I love to hear, but I always go back to the SS.

BUT...... I gotta say, I can do just about the same with your soft, as I can with Kamui's, I was amazed at the action I can get with these tips. It spins very close to a SS....... Especially masse' shots. Straight pool guys need to try this tip.

I've only spent 2 hours on the tip, but I'm very happy with it. I just do not like the lack of "tink". I think I'll throw a medium on my other shaft, and see how it reacts, but I miss that sound.

Can you add a clicker.....?

I play a dawgdud/milkdud. It's pretty quiet, especially on center ball moderate speed shots. A bit louder on extreme english/high or low shots.

Still not a 'high pitch ping' like a hard tip...more of a louder quiet thud.

I used to play a pressed triangle that had a high pitched ping. Same with a Kamui medium brown when it got harder. Both required considerable roughing up to get glaze off..more glazy was more ping. Sometimes would sound downright phenolic.

Fewer miscues with the dud and thud.

Tink and quiet are not the only two choices, as 3RK pointed out. I like the low thud of a Triangle tip. It isn't quiet, but it isn't a tink.

Its called the "Rinky tink" factor ... very important feed back mechanism imo in shots above slow speeds
