I have another cue project with a local cue maker and its gonna be a 4 pointer old school cue, just like the schon stl 4. I want to have the points and buttsleeve to be made of katalox wood. I heard that due to its very high density and oil content, it is quite difficult to work with. Katalox is also an ebony, mexican ebony they say, but how does it differ from the gabon ebony and other types of ebony. They say katalox is the hardest of them all. What do you suggest to use for adhesive for a very strong bond?

Katalox

I use Katalox to make my threaded inserts for shafts. It is hard and oily,
just what I want for an insert. I glue mine in with 30 min epoxy and after
5 or 6 years no problems.

Katalox is fine to work with and doesn't require any special treatment. Eventually it will get so dark it looks black. It is being used on high end guitar fret boards instead of ebony. It has been around the cue business for decades.
