driz86...That is a bunch of baloney. There are people out there who have started playing after age 40, and become 'pro-level' in only a few years. With the right training, coaching, competition, there is no age barrier to becoming a great player.

Name the players who have started playing at 40 and over who have played at a pro level? Let me make it a little easier for you, name anyone that started playing at age 30 or over that became a pro level player?
I played a bit in my teens but never got very good..
fast forward to 2006..and at 36. I joined a league just for fun...
and the bug bit me... I played constantly for 2 years trying to get better on my own
last year I took a lesson and have done regimented workouts daily for almost a year and I have watched my ability skyrocket..
maybe I'll never make it to pro speed... but the journey is a hell of a lot of fun..
p.s. the guys who dominated me for years... they don't seem to want any part of me now...
Steve Mizerak was 37 when he turned Pro ...
I think Wayne Pullen was in his 40's when he started, he won the USPPA Reno Open Handicapped event and is a formidable 1 pocket and rotation player now.

If you have the coordination and brains, you can do it. Along with some great instruction and/or observational skills.
You need a table at your house away from all the distractions of most pool halls... to really master the game, which is what you need to do.
