after losing the hotseat match (last 2 on the winner's side), that you lose the next match??? I know I've had it happen a couple of times (including last Saturday); just wondering if it happens MORE TIMES THAN NOT? I guess it could depend on how long you have to wait for the 1 loss side to finish, but more than that I think it's that the guy you have to play just finished a "survival" match (or a few), and you've been waiting (even if you're trying to keep loose by shooting around). After a LONG, LONG day I'm thinking that if I'm lucky enough to make it to the hotseat match and lose....I might as well just collect the 3rd place money right then and call it a night...:sorry: :p

Never say die ...

I could understand your attitude if you got slaughtered in the hotseat match, but otherwise never say die. I am turning 64 in less than 2 weeks, and my legs and knees get stiff when having to wait for a long time before playing again. I have split the pot before if I am in the hotseat, and if my opponent has won the first set, but otherwise I play till I am beat 2 times.

I know how you feel,That long wait kills me too. Your op has been steady playing while you sit cold and wait,Hard to overcome

I would think it has more to do with how well you/ your opponent play in a given set than where each comes from...

I love to play people that are freshly knocked down to the 1 loss side no matter how far it is in the tournament.

Most of the time you just have to throw a little pressure at them right at the start and they fold like paper.

Once you get to the hot seat match, win or lose, you know you're going to be waiting. As a matter of fact, they should call it the "cold seat."

lol - we decided to play the hotseat match right after winning our last matches....both of our opponents that were sent to the 1 loss side had to wait for an opponent while we did not....made the wait even longer. It was race to 4 on the winner's and 3 on the loser's. When I finally had an opponent, he took a 10 minute smoke break, then won the flip, broke and ran, and ran out my dry break (alternate break, barbox 8ball)! Finally, in the 3rd game I got to shoot....whoo-hoo. :p Let's just say at that point, I was thinking stick a fork in me, and let me get outta here.

I know, I know, bear down, yada yada yada.....but what I was really hoping for was winning the hotseat (lost hill/hill) so I could offer a split as soon as I had an opponent for the finals. I'm UBER-competitive, but that many hours in a poolhall just kills my drive....I guess HOME starts to look even more attractive than winning (I'm such a wuss). :shakehead:
