How Long Do I Wait?

So here is my dilemma. I ordered a custom cue last year and asked for it to be done by February. Got a phone call in December that said he was behind and it might not be done until March 1st at the latest. Since that date has come and gone I have heard nothing. He does not respond to a single email or phone call. The last actual correspondence I had with him was back in December. So my question is do I just keep waiting longer? How long should I wait before I go to another maker to get it done? Any advice here? This is my first custom that I have ordered and just seem to be kind of stuck right now. Also at this point there has been no money exchanged.

I would send one more e-mail explaining that you still desire the cue but from the lack of correspondence you feel you have invested enough time waiting for it's completion. If he still desires to complete the cue in a timely manner to reply immediately as if he can't fulfill his promise that you will be forced to move on to another cue maker.

I really hate when I hear stories like this. It gives all cue builders a bad name. I'm a firm believer in a man's word is his bond. Sometimes things go wrong and it takes a little more time but when such an occurrence happens the first thing the builder is supposed to do is inform the client. There is no excuse for him to leave you in the dark. Even though no money has changed hands your time has been wasted while patiently waiting for someone else to keep their commitment.

who is the cuemaker? could save someone else from the same problems...

Just wait for it.

I really do not want to mention his name at this time. If there is a legitimate reason why he has not been able to get it done or get back to me I do not want his name out there at this time. It is possible he is sick or injured in some way. I am still hoping for the best. If he does not respond in any way to my next few emails or phone calls then I will let everyone know so that they can avoid this situation with this cue maker.

As far as turning me off to other cue makers do not worry about that. I will get this thing made one way or another. Best not to judge all by the actions of one.

Well, if you mention his name, someone on here might have an idea if he is sick. However, he is running a business and if more delays were incurred he should have made contact with you.

I admire your patience and empathy that this delay might been something out of his control.

Green rep to you sir...
