How long to tips 'keep'?

This may seem like a strange question. But, like most things that can be bought in bulk, the more you buy the less you pay per item. I am happy with the tip that I use and want to keep a supply of them on hand so I can quickly replace one if necessary. If I buy 1 they are about $6 each. If I buy 10 they get to be about $2.50 each. However, if I buy 10+ and it takes me 2 years to go through them all are they going to still be 'good' towards the end? I have heard of tips drying out. How long does that take? Is there a way to store them so they last longer?

Anyway, just looking for ideas and suggestions. Thanks.
 
I'm only guessing here, but if you are refering to layered tips you are probably concerned with the glue that holds the laminations together. Am I right?
In any event, all tips, both laminated and non-laminated should last a very long time if conditions such as temperature and humidity are kept relatively constant.

Yes, they are layered tips. But I was thinking more about the leather drying out. I guess the glue is something else to think about.
 
Don't store them in an attic or cellar and you should be fine, those things can sit a couple of years with no issues.

You can always buy 10 at 2.50 and resell 8 for a fiver.
