I aim at a spot on the table for my cue ball to hit after I hit the spot on the object ball that I was aiming for.

Is that like........there's a tree in a hole and a hole in the ground and the green grass grew all around?

I actually ask this as I am teaching a young lady the fundamentals now, and I realized that I'm not looking at a spot on the OB, but rather a spot on the table beside the OB. I always have been.

Both. For straight dead straight that is the table. Slight angle at the ob. and th ob shots past 1/4 and 3/4 ball hits AKA 2s left and right side.

i use the ghost method so i use the spot on the table...... i find when i take my time and carefully find my spot and stay true to aiming for it i shoot much better..... i do find that when i rush i 'think' i know where the spot is and miss a bigger percentage of the time that way....
