AZ is by far the most popular website forum ever. I am just curious how many different room owner are here on the forums.

If you own or manage a pool room please let us know you are here by listing the name, city, ST of your pool room.

Thanks,

Mj

PS.. The reason I am curious is mainly because I spend many hours on the phone with room owners and I am always amazed by how many I talk to that have never visited AZ.

Wow, only 1 room owner/manager here on the AZ Forums.

That explains why so few room owners I talk to say they have heard about or visited Az Forums.

I'm dumbfounded......

What can we do to get them involved ?

This forum is a great place for them to learn or share knowledge about the biz.

Just a thought.

I am not the Room Owner But I am the General Manager and I have been on AZ since feb 2006.

Great Job Mike

Babineau's Billiards Raleigh, NC

Great job this weekend. Looks like your heading in the right direction. You've managed to promote the tour to a market which can be very hard to please.
The quality of your events and your timely reporting are very much appreciated.

Thanks Paul. It's good to see those words written from someone who knows how difficult events can be.

Me...

I know several room owners that dont want to be on AZbilliards. They dont want to deal with all the complaints of past tournys and how so and so wasnt rated right. Other owners I know cannot type more than 3 words a minute and feel its a waste of time. Its not AZ its the internet in general. Many rooms are stuck in the past and like staying there. Some room owners don't want to be pestered by marketers hawking their new cue products etc. Takes a lot of time and patience to post online regularly. And you have to be able to control your temper and not hit the [Submit Reply] button too quickly. Most room owners are lurkers on here. They prolly will stay that way.

That is really too bad...I lived in St. Louis in the 90's and the pool scene was unreal. There were tournaments in the area nearly every single night that had good draws. In addition, the larger tournaments consistently drew over 100 players and typically lasted Saturday and Sunday. There also used to be a ton of action. It seemed as though when the publication of "Ball in Hand" was ended that this fell off a bit and never seemed to recover. I remember playing in the Teachers rooms, SportsCenter on Gravois, Afton Billiards, Ride The Rail, The Break, Breakers in Collinsville, Cue and Cushion of course, Chesterfield Billiards, Five Star Billiards, and a ton of others that slip my mind at the moment. St. Louis really had great tournaments and action.

CueandCushion, so true. I'm a lurker, I would have to say that if this area was locked for just owners, you might get more owners to open up. However, as it stands, I have too many customers that are members and would be uncomfortable posting anything except very general topics. It's not that owners don't want to move into the present, the internet has its' advantages, but as a business owner, you have to be circumspect in what you say. Customers are extremely sensitive and you have to consider that when you make your voice heard in a forum such as this.

Thank you for posting Kath13. Many times I have regretted hitting the [Submit Reply] button after a long frustrating night. I've always been honest but not always been very tactful or polite when posting. And sometimes Ive been just plain wrong. So please post more and just reread and preview the post. Read it outloud so you don't regret anything after a really bad day/night. Welcome to AZBilliards.

Since when have you been afraid to voice your opinion??? Some room owners can be very sensitive too and customers need to be careful when they voice their opinion.  :D

Too funny! See CueandCushion, they are everywhere and see everything and hear everything.
I certainly hope you are not referring to me 1on1pooltourneys, as you know you are my favorite customer off all time and value your opinion on almost all things. :)

By the way...

Kath13,
Cueandcushion is a successful room owner and his pool room has been opened for years and was a main action spot in St. Louis at one time (pre-casino era:mad:). I spent many hours there when I was a kid and used to go to St. Louis with my dad, and have even played in there as a player. I would say he is a valuable resource for you and has sound advice. I believe his room has been in his family for at least 20 years??
