How many set of pool balls should one have?

The local bar I've been playing at has 8 barboxes, umpteen sets of balls and not one table with a matching set. A buddy and I once tried to match up sets from all the tables...after two hours we couldn't come up with one complete, matching set.

The best balls were Centenials but we were short a 13-ball.

His Boy Elroy....there's no chips in the set of Centennials I am playing with so far and
in fact, I can't recall any chips in the previous sets I've sold, Heck, I'd rotate the back-up
set of Centennials from the shelf into play as soon as I spotted any & there aren't any yet.

I'm pretty much known around town as being "more than meticulous" aboit my cues, cases,
and set of Centennial pool balls I play with. It's why I got a Ballstar machine a long time ago.
If you are going to do something and can afford to approach it without regard to cost, then I
say just go all-in and pool balls sets really don't cost that much vs. the hours of enjoyment
you can derive from having the best.....watches, guns, knives & pool stuff are my big vices.

p.s. I actually have 2 players that's asked me to call them when I sell my next set of Centennials.
