How many table lengths

How many table lengths on an 8' table with good cushions/rails should a ball travel when hit real hard (almost leaves the table)?

find an 8 foot table or two. hit it real hard and count.

From the foot rail, RKC essentially threw the cue ball up my 9-foot Diamond Pro Am as hard as he could immediately after he recovered and leveled it ... and he said that if it contacts the head rail three times that's good... and it did. :thumbup:

I'd say that for an 8-footer, it ought to contact the head rail three times and travel another ~1/2 of the table.

I've tried to hit a ball as hard as I can and cannot get the ball to travel as far as when I throw it... fwiw.

Do the throw test and tell us the results.

I probably done as much as four table lengths as a record.......

Of course that was a miscue on the break the ball didn't hit one rail.:rotflmao:

standard 8-foot home table you will get 3.75 - 4.5

What kind of rubber?
Artemis? Accu-Fast? Medlin?
What kind of cloth?
Forstmann's, 860,760, Granito....
I can get a lot more with good rubber and good cloth than vice versa.

And varying results with variations in between.
At least I could if I ever hit balls anymore!lol

It depends entirely on how hard you roll/throw the ball into the cushion, most tables are in the 4 -5 length range.
