How many years have you been playing pool? I know alot of people have been playing for several years. But what got you started playing pool? Until I got online I never knew that there was that many people that played.

Well, can call it several years..fairly new..me led by soul and spirit of a late friend..first to another forum then came here. Mainly driven by passion for the game..

I have been playing for about 10 years total. When I was about 13 we had a pool table in our basement back in MN. Played for about 4 years. Took a break and then for about the last 6 years I have been playing. When I was a youngster it was more about just banging balls around. Now lots of effort and time is put into it.

I've been playing for about a year and a half, probably a little bit more. I didn't seriously get to practicing and developing until they let me into Fast Eddie's after my 21st birthday. I turn 23 this December. I got started because this jerk I knew wanted to go shoot pool, and I tagged along. Then this same jerk showed me the movies, The Hustler and The Color of Money. Then 6 months down the line, after practicing my heart out, I finally beat someone straight up. Now I'm hooked for life.

Thanks Zack!:D

You ruined me.

I guess, now that I'm playing I am utterly obsessed with being the best pool player that I can be. And I'll keep going until I fizzle out like a bottle rocket or explode like one of those huge mortar things you put into tubes.... damn thats a bad metaphor.

I started playing pool with my father at 13. Played what I thought was serious until I was 20 then moved to Ottawa and learned I had a long way to go. 11 years of torture and tournaments later I can say I have played for 18 fun years and will continue to play as long as I can.

My 5 year old daughter is already started to get exposed to the pool bug and hopefully she likes it so we can play together.

I've played since I was very young, but nothing beyond just playing with friends. About a year and a half ago I started playing everyday. This guy in my pool hall could give me the 7, 8 and the break and beat me. Now I can give this guy the 8. I've worked as hard as I possible can considering the best table in town is an 8 foot valley with nappy cloth and rolls decent.(giving the table the benefit of the doubt with "decent")

Ive been playing 16 years. I started when I was 16, and what got me started was a Gal, her dad owned a bar and after school she took me to the bar to meet her dad, while I was there the Gal wanted to play POOL? So ofcourse I did, and won, my prize was remeberable and I was hooked.

I started at 10 yrs old in the local firehouse on a 5x10 old brunswick with ivory balls. Soon as I hit my first shot I was ruined. After that, I played in a little deli-store in town on a 3 1/2 x 7 until I got drafted and went to Vietnam.

No pool for 2 years and then to the bar boxes until I got my pool room in 1993, now im lucky if I pick up my cue more that once a month.

What became of the guy that used to play everyday for hours ?
Well it`s not fun anymore it`s a job and that sucks, but the fire is still there deep inside me. Total time 50 yrs

ok im done yacking

25 years, and as someone else said, it's getting like a job that I'm sick of. But for some reason I can't quit it.

I know the feeling sometimes. When I get tired of shooting I try alot of trickshots. When I make 1 I kinda get back into it.

I've been shooting pool for 22 years now, and I'm still only 27, and I'm completely self taught.

I will say though, over the last few years, I've been gradually losing interest in pool, simply because there's too much 8ball and 9ball crap, and 10ball is just 9ball, with an extra ball in the stack, and so, who knows, whether or not, I'll still be playing or involved in the game, only time can reveal that answer.
