How much does the tip affect the hit of a shaft?

I've got a Wizard M on my shaft, which is a Jon Spitz shaft with 20 grpi, and I'm wondering if changing to a Kamui S would change the hit very much? I don't have a lot of experience with different tips on the same shaft, so I thought I would ask.

If you go from a hard to a soft tip you will feel the difference, but probably not as much going from a medium to a soft. Also Kamui's run a little on the hard side. So a soft might play close to your medium, at least hit wise.

It will make a pretty significant difference in the feel of the hit. I used to use a rock hard tip and have changed to a medium/medium hard. I use a regular shaft, not low deflection. It doesn't hurt to experiment a little. If you do, give it several weeks before making an evaluation. JMHO

more than any other part of the cue!!

Tips

Try as many different tips as you can, giving them several hours of play each. This will let you zero in on a preference. Mediums from two different manufacturers will play different. Usually it is subtle, but they will still be different.

It is nice if you have two shafts (or more) for a cue so you can get them both tipped differently and try them out side by side. Good luck in your search.

i agree

i switched from a moori that came with a ob2 that i bought and put on a kamui black ss but it feels more like a med soft but i get more action on the qb then with the moori

its the only part of a cue thats suppose to be contacting the cue ball...think about it like that

i have predator cue and switched from moori medium to a kamui black s and will never go back! better all the way arouund. the soft is more like a moori medium so take that into consideration.

Geocheren, that is a very profound statement & a true statement.

A good cue has balance & feel, but a bad tip can alter the feel.
