Hi guys, new poster, been lurking for a while, and am getting my 1st pool table installed this wednesday! Cant wait. So here is my Q: How much do i need to spend for a good cue? I dont need a cue with gold inlays etc, just a good playing cue. My table comes with the Brunswick Centennial package, so maybe those cues are as good as i need? I have also read good things on here about the Fury DL cues at >$100. Thanks for any input on this. Love this msg board.

Yup, 100, 150 could buy you a nice Viking (my choice) McDermott, or the like.

I think anything above $150 would be sure a good cue.
Here in the UK about £100 minimum, my first 2 cues were under £100 each and werent very good. Third cue was a buffalo at £225, good, and now a bala.
Must say the bala is very nice, feel good and solid.

It really depends on your budget, and you have to remember, "good" is subjective. You'd be best to get out there and try a few however you can.

As far as production cues go, I would suggest Joss. They are one of the best production cues for the money. Though I have no experience with Bar Cue (a production player's cue made by Samsara), they are touted by the builders as being built with the same standards and specs as their customs. May be worth looking into.

Again, these may run you in excessof $100-$150. You'll likely spend twice that. But it will be worth every penny to find the right cue for you.

I would suggest you use the cues that come with your table for a while. In the meantime, ask as many friends as possible, if you could try out their cues. Soon, you will find out what you like and dislike about different cues. You will also find out which production cues you like the best, which will help you make the choice on where to put your money.

As I'm sure others will suggest, you may want to put a little money aside for a lesson or two from a good instructor, before you form too many bad habits.

350 fury rp 3 .. the best q for the money ..

Your question ...

A good cue, in my mind, would be a custom cue that cost around $750, but a cue that would due, played decent would be $200-250, and that you planned to keep for awhile.

Now, if you just want 'house' sticks for guests, you can buy them for
$25-30 a piece. I always thought Dufferin was a good house stick.
And you can pick the weights, and shape the tips yourself.

I personally love my Mcdermotts... I play with a Pearl Blue, about a 200.00 stick brand new, and I have played with it for 5 years, and still hits a solid as day 1.

But as others have put, it's all into your liking... Try out a few cue's before you buy.
