How Much is Too much?

I think a lot of you have it lucky, I hope you know that. $12 entry, take 2 for green fee and 5 goes to td is normal around here. And despite what people think, we are forced to put up with it... there just aren't that many choices. No matter what the rooms, do/take, I wish tournamnet entries would start going up myself. I mean are we still in the 80's here?

Sounds like some of you guys have it pretty bad with money being taken out. Perhaps you should contact the ABP for advice on starting a boycott. :outtahere:

Sorry I couldn't resist. :)

Our weekly tournament is free. No quarters for the table.

It's on 9 foot Diamonds. Pays $125 for first 75 for second, 50 for third and 25 for fourth.

Back a couple years ago (when i played regularly) i was doing our localish Tournaments. People always complained about the tournament (it was /is handicapped), and the TD seemed to be under rating many of the players and people didn't like it.

My solution was and is quite simple. As a group (the players) get together and go to the room where the tournament is being played. Don't sign up for the tournament, and either watch or rent tables and play. Do this a few weeks as a group, then the TD will be more than happy to negotiate terms that are fairer, or quit.

In any business, you need to assume that there will be time when you loose 20% of your regulars (if you move your location as my friend did from one side of town to the other about 3 miles), but you will get new clients. So the point I am making is, as long as it is just *****ing and whining, but the TD and room are getting paid, why listen. But when they see that all or most of the players won't put up with the gouging then they will be more apt to listening to a fair and profitable arrangement.

It always worked for the unions, but I think it needs to be done in a civil manner. GMO
