How old and what type of Lucasi Flexpoint shaft is this shaft for sale on Ebay?

I am thinking of buying a Lucasi Flexpoint shaft from Ebay. The Lucasi website has a photo that has the same lettering on the shaft as that of the Ebay shaft. They differ, though, with the Lucasi-website shaft having one silver ring at the joint versus the three silver rings on the Ebay shaft. See photos here.

The one-ring shaft on the Lucasi-website is a Lucasi Hybrid Zero Flexpoint Low Deflection shaft. Is that the Ebay shaft?

If it is that model, why does one have three and another one ring? Perhaps, they were produced in different years?

The Ebay seller describes the shaft as a “Lucasi Flexpoint pool cue shaft uniloc”. Do you agree it is actually a Lucasi Hybrid Zero Flexpoint Low Deflection shaft?

Do I have this all wrong. Is the model of the Ebay shaft not photographed on the Lucasi website (its some other model shaft)?
The auction price now for the Ebay shaft with postage included is $125. The Lucasi H-Z-F-L-D shaft sells for new $375.

Do you mean they are the same type of Lucasi shaft but they have different joint sizes?

The two pictured are the same shaft but for different joint types. The 'U' on the left pic is for uniloc. The other is a 5/16x18 if that's a '18' on it. I have no clue about what ebay ad you're looking at.

It's just different designs. One has 3 rings, other has 1. No hidden meaning behind them. The guy selling the shaft probably has a cue with three silver rings.

Garczar is right about the 'U' for uniloc on the Ebay shaft and what is probably an '18' for a joint size of the Lucasi-website shaft. As far as the three rings, I looked at the drop-down menus for joint sizes on the Lucasi website for the Hybrid Zero Flexpoint Low Deflection shaft. That shaft can have a "Uni-loc triple silver ring". That would match the Ebay photo of the same type of shaft and that has three rings and a Lucasi logo with the letter 'U'.

Dude, it all depends what model cue the shaft came with. They made/make these with all sorts of joints/rings. I'm DONE...................

Thanks Garcza and hang-the-9. The Ebay auction item is very likely a Lucasi Hybrid Zero Flexpoint Low Deflection shaft with a uni-loc joint. The seller under-describes it as a “Lucasi Flexpoint pool cue shaft uniloc”. Flexpoint shafts sell from $240 to $380. The Ebay shaft is one of the low-deflection shafts that sell new for $380. The auction price now for the used shaft is $128.

I can be a little slow . . . . . The posters are trying to tell me that you can’t identify the Lucasi-shaft type unless you know the Lucasi cue that was sold with that shaft. From what I can tell, that may be true if its the Lucasi Custom shaft brand name. That seems to be the case with a new cue sold by another Ebayer (link below). It shows the logo and lettering for a Lucasi Custom shaft. The Lucasi website shows that its Custom shafts differ from its Hybrid shafts in that only the Hybrid shaft has low deflection. The Ebay cue with its Custom shaft, however, is described as a hollowed-out, low-deflection shaft. Other Lucasi sales on Ebay also show Custom shafts with low deflection that are not Hybrid shafts. The seller at the Ebay website below seems accurate since he is selling a new cue and his photos are Lucasi's stock images.

So.....a Lucasi Custom shaft on Ebay may be the $240 model or it might be the $380 low-deflection shaft. The Ebay Lucasi item that I posted earlier, however, has the lettering of a Lucasi Hybrid shaft. I suspect that means it has to be the low-deflection shaft as the Lucasi website describes Hybrid shafts as a specially designed low-deflection shaft that costs $140 more than the regular-deflection model (Custom) it sells.

The shaft on the left is a brand new Lucasi shaft model HX8 UBC I received yesterday. The UBC is Uniloc Black Collar. This will change if it has rings like the one on the right. The one on the right came on my Lucasi Hybrid cue. LH40 I believe. It is no longer made and I don't know the model number of it. Lucasi told me the HX8 UBC is the replacement for the original shaft. This is a LD Hybrid shaft. I love this shaft. I have a CF shaft I was using and it needed the Ferrell replaced so I started using the Lucasi cue. After 5 weeks of using this cue again the CF cue has taken a backseat to the Lucasi cue so I purchased a new shaft for it. This is the 11.75mm tip. Cue ball control is amazing. I feel bad about going back to the Lucasi as my kids bought me CF as a present but I can't help it. Lucasi offers a LifeTime warranty against defects and shaft warpage. Keep the receipt and make sure the eBay seller is a registered Lucasi dealer. Good luck

I think what you are saying is that the Lucasi Hybrid shaft LH40 has been replaced by the Lucasi Custom shaft HX8. I think this agrees with my summary above. The Lucasi Custom shaft has “LC” written on it and is either a $240 regular deflection shaft or a $380 low-deflection shaft. The Lucasi Hybrid shaft has “LH” written on it and can only be the $380 low-deflection shaft.

You mentioned you liked the HX8 better than the carbon fiber shaft. In other words, you liked the low-deflection maple HX8 shaft more than a low-deflection carbon-fiber shaft. Note that your HX8 is different from other Lucasi low-deflection shafts because it has a smaller 11.75mm tip and has a European (straight) taper.

The HX8 is a LD Hybrid shaft with a pro taper. Follow the link I provided. What I like better about the Lucasi over the CF is the smaller tip and thinner shaft, 11.75mm. It allows better cue ball control. I can spin the cue ball around the the table like there's no tomorrow It took me a long time to get used to the CF shaft. It's a 13mm tip and obviously a thicker shaft. When I got used to it I liked it very much and used it exclusively. It's a vvery nice shaft as well but when I was forced to go back to my Lucasi cue for 5 weeks I fell in love again. I still use my CF cue but I don't see it being a permanent thing. On the bar boxes there is no comparison to the Lucasi. Spinning the cue ball out of trouble and back in line is amazing that I just can't do with the CF. On 9' and 10' tables they are pretty comparable. These are my findings YMMV.

Who made the 13mm low-deflection carbon fiber shaft that you don't like as well as the Lucasi Hybrid Flexpoint 11.75mm slim shaft low-deflection HX8 (that has an "LC" written on the shaft instead of an "LH" that you might expect)?

Hard to make out what you're saying here. Which shaft was carbon and which one was 13?? BTW, shaft material/type/size hs very little impact on spin. Smaller shafts allow a lil greater tip-offset thus a lil more spin, its not the material. Some ld shafts 'might' allow a lil more spin but its tiny. Dr.Dave's tests pretty well covered all this. BTW, i'm far from a top player and i can spin it just as well with a house cue as i can either of my Mezz's LD shafts(one Mezz wood, one Rhino cf. Both 12.8).

One last thing on Lucasi LD wood: they are lower in deflection but not really true 'low-deflection' imo. They use a light ferrule with some foam-type stuff underneath. They don't hollow out the shaft so they don't reduce the mass near as much as say a Pred,Mezz,Jacoby wood ld shaft. They are good shafts tho just a lil higher squirt than others. I like the way the solid one plays, not a fan of the Hybrid laminated version. That one feels 'dead' to me.

I play a wood 0 Flexpoint shaft on my Owen cue . I put a milk dud tip on it a few years ago and really like the way it plays . The shaft is at least 8 years old and is perfectly straight tho the ferrule has a bunch of small cracks .
