How serious are you at pool?!?

im more the: i want to mean something in the world of pool, rather then a top pro player. im 28 just finished university last year, and playing pool now for 9months.

my main things:
- i play all national ranking events
- i play some opens
- i play some weekly box tournaments
- i love to scout young people and help organise tournaments for them
- im maybe going to open my own poolhall this summer, where ill be organising tournaments, give lessons to younger hotshots, make a lesson table with video's so u can tape your practise, tape your stroke and stances,
im concentrating myself on ballbangers and players who have never played trying to get as much people to start playing.
- im making a new poolsite with all the info people from my country needz. (i dont think the national site really gives the info a player like me likes and needs, so instead of complaining im making one myself)
- i love to put up the example of how a player should behave around and off the table. respectfull and sportmanship.

i think im very serious and i think i can make a difference and help pool in my country if i really comit to it. i could have been a very sucsesfull engenier and winning loads of money, but i prefere to win less and do something id REALLY love. if i lose the passion for the game, ill always be able to do something else with my degree.

from all this, im just a small B player with no real goal of becoming a touring pro (if i ever do, perfect, but its not a goal. but i might work more on my game once ive build a house with the gf and we'll have place for 2 tables. his and her's. but right now, im what they call a respected poolfan who loves to give alot back to the game.

About Allison not practicing anymore ........

Man, if I were her, Id be playing 8 ball with the best player I knew EVERYDAY all day long. She has everything to win with the ITP.

Here is my reason for only playing pool once a week.

Daddy's girl!

She's got a nice square stance. Better use a box or stool for now so she doesn't develop a sidearm stroke! :)

More serious than I would like to admit to the way that I sometime play; and my play does not always reflect the amount of time that I put into it.

This is SO true!! I have nothing more to say, it is exacly how I feel when my game is not that good, i know i can have the shots, but i keep missing them, then i come to lose the feeling. You know, that feeling that tells you "the ball's going in, it'S obvious". So i lose self confidence in my shots, and that is very very bad, and i know it... those are the bad days... and the quote just in top is exactly what i say to myself when it happens (way to often for my taste). And sometimes i also come to say : I should give up pool, i don't belong to the world of pool... and i makes me real sad, 'cause i know i can't give up pool, 'cause i love it too much, i'm totally addicted to it, i am a "pool hall junky!" hehe

Pool is more serious to me than it probably should be. I'll rarely go a day without doing something pool related: whether watching an Accu-stats tape, or practicing 5 hours straight.

What I'm striving for at the moment is... patience! I'm telling myself, you're not going to be running six-packs overnight. The most important thing is to enjoy every step of the way. I love pool (and billiards, and snooker!) and pure enjoyment is the role it plays in my life. Though if you give me a game I'll go for some cheap money sets. :D

P.S.: I'm also learning a lot about life through pool and competition. Especially how to focus on process rather than results (the zone), and take a full stroke!

Just wondering how serious people around here are at pool. I'm guessing there's all different levels.

Me.......I would say "somewhat".....have 2 kids, wife, house, etc... & cannot practice as much as I want. I do play in a BCA pool league. I spend alot of time at drills, reading books, trying to be the best I can be. Will be happy just being a top ranked league player.

I do take the summers off somewhat from pool....I feel its important for me to take a break, so I don't get burnt out (plus I get sick of the same old pool halls, same old pool crowd).

I do love the game of pool though!

I use to be really serious with my pool, so much that it would cost me relationships cause all i did, and want to do is play pool but nowadays i dont' even play anymore after the leagues were over i think i played like ten times and this was about a month ago, come to think about it i don't even post on my pool forums anymore that much LOL

I used to be a Pool addict..

But not anymore now, after getting banned in the Pool Hall somewhere near my house,i decided to stop playing for sometime..

So nowadays i only play pool for like thrice a month or maybe twice a month..

So i think im only 30% addicted to pool now..
