How to drum up action

!. Get a 'flash roll'.....7-8 hundred in 20's with 2 hundreds on top, with a rubber band.
Let players see it....a lot.
2. Have a friend come in , match up, and you lose 2-4 hundred to him.
Make sure everyone see's it or hears about it.
3. Flash the cash and repeat....you will get played.

You might get played... but you'll also get robbed in the parking lot.

OR

Learn the soft hustle. Winning pool is about people management.
Make people like you, they will lose more money to you and play
you more often. Dont say how bad you play, tell'em how good they play.
Give the impression that you think you play pretty good and are just having
a bad day when you lose or play bad. Lose when playin cheap, win or break even when bettin it up. When you want to lose, always try to run out. When you want to win, blast the 1-2-3-4 ball into the money ball ( or hopefully money balls ). Only try to run out when there are a few balls on the table.
Good luck
Learning how to hustle is a lost art in pool today

This is great advice.

You need to be known as an action player. You dont like to play for fun. Ater that has been established there are four reasons people will want to play you.
1) They think they can easily win.
2) They have fun playing you and even if they lose it was still fun.
3) They dont like you and want to play you based on their emotions. (Think of why John wanted to play Lou so bad here)
4) They get some experience or can learn something from playing you. (not really applicable as a c player)

If you are a C player then follow Gunn_Slingers strategy for playing too, especially for guys who are paying you for reason 1 assuming they are C players also. Guys who are playing you for reasons 2 & 3 will often play you knowing they have the worst of it but it is still worth playing you even though.

For guys who you want to play but you know they are tight and will only play for reason 1, you want to flash the cash, let them see you lose, and make them think you play worse than you do. In their mind the only way you could beat them is if you played above your head or got lucky so when you win play that up and let them know that you are not adjusting the weight.

Thats it in a nutshell.

But then there is a fifth reason too which might be the most common reason you will get big action and it doesnt require a lot of hustling.

5) They like to gamble and you offer big action.

If you want $500 sets, let them think they can win $10,000 and someone will be willing to throw $500 or $1000 at some tough action.

The first question, that only you can answer, are you in it for the action or the money?

If it's action you seek do what every feels good and have a blast.

If you want to make money it's a completely different discipline.

A bit of both. It won't kill me to lose but I'm a smart gambler. I'm not trying to flush money down the toilet

Action guy

I don't know any of the posters on here other than deanoc. He was a true
action guy . This was back years ago when there was a lot of action in
Dallas. Whoppi a world champion bumper pool player was another back
then. Whoppi could go in any place that had pool tables and in no time
he could action going. Dean was totally different , most players his speed
could not take the heat when playing a champion, no matter how much
weight they got. He could take it off if he was supposed to. Like he said
he always looked and seemed like he was cut from a finer piece of cloth
than the rest of us. Everyone knew if you beat him you could win something.
The other thing that was the best thing he had going is he would GAMBLE.
He did not ask for stupid spots, this just gets everyone thinking you are
a locksmith and nothing happens. He would go right up to any world beater
that happen to be there and try to match up. Sometimes win a few times
lose. When he came in it was not to sweat or practice it was to gamble
and everyone knew it, and it created action. Don't know why but some
people just do. Whoppi was totally different than Dean but action just
followed them around. Maybe it's just one of things, that can't be explained
