How to get Pool on ESPN

ESPN is the highest rated cable network and the race for 2nd and beyond isn’t particularly close. Pool would be beyond lucky to get airtime on such a “dead” channel. 😂 https://www.adweek.com/tvnewser/these-are-basic-cable-network-nielsen-ratings-for-q4-2022/521396/
Who has cable anymore?You pay good money for it and also have to watch commercials? If I'm paying for something to watch I won't watch commercials. Wasting 15 minutes of my time per hour of viewing isn't worth it. In other words I'll watch an hour of commercials to watch 3 hours of programming. No thanks, my free time is more valuable than that.

To get it onto Espn, Get exciting commentary and let the fans scream and cheer (or jeer) while the players are playing. Similar to baseball, football, soccer (football) or hockey. Maybe make it a larger scale Mosconi Cup like event(s). Otherwise, keep showing Cornhole, Bowling and Tag.

It's not going to happen so why bother to discuss it. The demographics are all wrong (old fucks like most of us on this board) and the average income of pool players (true a generalization) isn't high enough to entice sponsors.

I've mentioned this several times on our livestreams, but I'll say it again here. I don't care if pool is ever on ESPN ever again. Coverage on ESPN sucked. You got to watch one or two matches (finals and maybe semifinals), heavily edited down, race shortened, and even then they would skip games in the edit.

The coverage we get through livestreaming is MUCH better. We get to see an entire tournament (often multiple tables). We see every game of a match. We (usually) get commentators that actually understand pool. And the professional livestreams that we get from the likes of Matchroom and CSI/Predator have high production values too.

It's simple business.

Unless you are a pool player it's incredibly boring to watch.

If no one is watching ESPN does not generate revenue.

ESPN= show me the money.
I tend to agree with you that unless you're a player watching pool (especially the way nine ball is played today) is akin to watching paint dry. At the very least a 25 second shot clock should strictly enforced, and a maximum of 2 extensions per player per MATCH! I certainly applaud what Matchroom and Predator are trying to do and I wish them both success. Let's hope then succeed where others have failed.
