How to help someone with low self confidence???

There is a young player in my area who plays really great but when gets to hill matches his confidence starts falling a part.Any help would be appreciated.
Why do experience and reputation matter.I mean it isn't the same who you play with.

I will respond to this post this evening when I have a little more time on my hands. There are a few helpful tips I would like to share as well as some sites that you can look into to help build confidence. Just do not have time at this moment to post it all.
