How to improve safety play?

Play Kairun:

Use the 1 ball, the 3 ball, the 11 ball, and the cue ball.

Make carom shots in this order: red-yellow (or vice versa), red-red, then all 3 object balls in one shot.

If you manage to make all 3 shots in succession, you have made 1 point and can continue your run. If you miss a carom it is your opponents turn (or just start over if you are practicing alone).

Any balls that go into a pocket are spotted (cue ball included). If the foot spot is blocked, the ball is spotted on the head spot. If the head spot is also blocked use the center spot.

If you make a 3 ball carom out of sequence, your turn is over (and you pay your opponent if you happen to be gambling).

Here is a video.

Have fun. Its a really difficult, but addicting game. The key is to control both the object balls and the cue ball to set up the final 3 ball carom shot. If you don't its near impossible to score.

Nice vid. How are the balls positioned at the beginning of the game.

one pocket

play one pocket. Don't watch a pro play because they play the game almost like rotation. In one hole you will have to play off balls thinly and freeze behind balls, move several balls to get safe, cross banking to the end rail to create distance which happens in 9 ball every day, chinese snookering people, always freezing the ball on a rail when playing safe, it will help with your speed control, etc....

go on youtube and watch some snooker matches,

Here is a video of a few frames of the final of the 2013 International Championship between Marco Fu and Ding Junhui.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJ_Vr1aW9x4

The 17th frame went on for more than an hour.
When two top snooker pros take that long, it is not because they can't pocket balls.

Ding won the match - thus accomplishing something that hadn't been since 1990 - winning three ranking events in succession.

The guy that accomplished the feat in 1990 was some flash in the pan named Stephen Hendry.

Sorry forgot about that.

Start with the reds on the foot and head spots, the yellow half way between the foot spt and the rail, and the cue ball half way between the head spot and the side rail.
