Looks like it is easy to become a cue maker, take deposits and payments and then never make a cue. I bet that most cue makers that owe cues and money to people no longer have the tools to build a cue. Most likely pawned or sold all of it if they needed money bad enough to rip people off.

They don't all work that way. Rich Geschrey (Esoteric Cues) is building a custom order for me. He doesn't take any money up front (payment is due when the cue is ready) and texts progress pics several times a week. Great cuemaker so far.

Not anywhere close to being all of them, quite the opposite.

Apparently over the last while, the bad ones weed themselves out and need no help from us. The OP makes it sound as tho they had a plan to begin with to rip people off. I doubt that was the way it happens. A turn of events in their lives just happened to show us their true character.

There are still tons of good guys out there.

Unfortunately, where one person has a good experience, others may not. Nothing against your guy, it's just the way it is sometimes.
