I have a 20' trailer and can get friends to help me. What would be the best way? Do I need to wrap the slate, etc? It is a 5x10 Brunswick.
Thanks!

Label everything head to foot or 1-6 while taking it apart this way its easier to reassemble or hire a pro then its right the first time. If a pro takes it apart they can see what needs to be fixed or fine tuned so it can play better when reassembled.

Remove the rails and pockets.
Carefully remove the cloth from the slate and you may be able to reuse it.
Remove the slate and number mark each piece as well as on the frame.
Make sure you mark everything as n10spool said so all parts go back to the same place.

To transport on a flat trailer wrap the slates in blankets/padding and lay flat.
Put the frame/legs on in 1 piece since there is no need to disassemble unless you have a clearance problem getting through doors and if so remove the legs.
Wrap the rails to protect them and make sure all nuts, bolts, screws, etc are accounted for and kept together.
On reassembly make sure the frame is square and level first.

Snooker table Mfg's such as Rileys recommend transportation of slates standing on their edge not flat, I have personally seen snooker table slates break under there own weight this way.

No way to do that on a flat trailer unless it has tall sides (not usually) to tie off the slates.
I agree that transporting on edge is preferred but for a short distance laying slate flat is fine.
I've never had a problem with slate and they get transported in a van laying flat.

Thanks for the help. I bucked up and paid a professional to move it for me. Cost me more to move it than the I paid for the table, but I got peace of mind.
